RETAIL giant Boots opened a new store in Corby today, creating 20 jobs.
The store at The Peel Centre, in Phoenix Parkway, was due to be opened by Kevin Birch, the company’s UK divisional director for the eastern region.
Darren Parfitt, manager of the new store, said: “Our new Boots store will provide the residents of Corby with access to our wide range of health and beauty products and services, as well as great value promotions and offers.
“We have more than 160 years of healthcare and beauty expertise, so our customers can expect the very best from us. We’re looking forward to welcoming customers into our new store for all their health and beauty needs.”
The store is in addition to three other branches in the Corby area, including the main shop in Queen’s Square, in the town centre.
Staff are planning several events to celebrate the opening, including a Miles for Macmillan cycling event to raise funds and public awareness of Macmillan Cancer Support.
A spokesman for Boots said the new store, in a former carpet shop, will offer a wide range of health and beauty products, as well as a dispensing pharmacy, a consultancy room where customers can discuss health issues in private, baby products and clothing, a photographic kiosk and electrical beauty items.
There will also be a prescription delivery service.
The new store will open from 9am until 8pm, from Monday to Friday, 9am until 6pm on Saturday and from 10am until 4pm on Sundays.
The company said it has no plans to close its town centre store.
