A SCHOOL’S netball team is celebrating after splashing out on a new netball kit for them following a donation from a thankful ex-pupil.
St Mary’s Primary School, in Fuller Street, Kettering, was given the donation by former pupil Amy Smith, 11, who went to the school for a number of years before leaving last year.
The school decided to spend the funds on a new netball kit for its team, which has about eight players.
Amy herself was involved with the school’s netball team.
Headteacher Jonathan Gardiner said: “Amy had been at the school since she was little and her family thought donating the money would be a nice way of saying thank you after she left us.
“It is a very generous donation, and in these times we appreciate any help we receive.
“We decided to spend the money on netball kits for the school’s team, as they were using a kit which was quite old and a bit out of date.
“We thought it would be a nice way of spending the money, and our netball team is very popular.”
