Nearly 3,000 workers are being sought in Northamptonshire over the festive period

With less than 70 shopping days until Christmas and Black Friday predicted to be the busiest ever for the UK, recruitment company PMP Recruitment, part of Cordant PLC, is looking for 1,898 temporary pickers and packers to work in warehouses in the Daventry area, 741 in Corby, and for 300 to work in Northampton.

Around 10 per cent of these positions nationally are expected to turn permanent after Christmas.

Derek Skelton, managing director of PMP Recruitment, said: “This is the busiest year so far in terms of demand for workers over the festive season.

“Reports show that retailers are expecting another bumper Christmas with record breaking sales and we are working with our clients across the UK, supplying them with the hands they need to ensure that consumers get their gifts on time.

“Flexible working is great for people of all ages and circumstances for example, someone seeking a second job to cover the cost of Christmas, a parent looking for work to fit around family commitments, or a student using the money to financially support their studies.”
