Enchanted Entertainment, producers of many popular family theatre shows nationwide, are planning another theatrical extravaganza and they need local dancers aged eight and above to perform alongside the professional cast.

Any dancers interested in auditioning need to attend an open audition at The Castle on Sunday, June 25.

Munchkins are needed and they need to be aged eight and above and no taller than 4ft 8ins.

The munchkin auditions start at 10.30am, with registration from 10am.

The senior dancer auditions for 11 to 15-year-olds will take place at 1.30pm, with registration from 1pm.

This will be followed by the over-16s auditioning at 4.30pm, with registration from 4pm.

There is no upper age limit to audition for a place to dance in this year’s Christmas show.

Choreographer Kerry Blaskett said: “We’re looking for local performers with dance experience and a strong jazz technique to be our munchkins and dancers in The Wizard of Oz.

“All those auditioning need to bring appropriate clothing/footwear on the day and also be available to rehearse every Sunday during November and December as well as for the production itself.”

Enchanted Entertainment will be bringing 28 performances of The Wizard of Oz to The Castle from Wednesday, December 13, until Saturday, December 30.

The show will feature a live band and will be packed with a host of top quality professional performers in the lead roles.

Producer Jezz Weatherall said: “What a great opportunity for local dancers to be involved in this year’s Christmas production at the Castle Theatre - The Wizard of Oz.

“It’s going to be great fun for all the family, everyone remembers such wonderful characters as the ‘The Cowardly Lion’ and ‘The Tin Man’ who needs a heart.

“This show will take the original book written by L. Frank Baum and give it a new panto-style twist as only Enchanted Entertainment can.”

Enchanted Entertainment is planning some spectacular magic to ensure The Wizard of Oz will be a brilliant family Christmas show with plenty of audience participation, fantastic sets and costumes, and jokes galore.
