MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire Andy Sawford met health chiefs last week for more talks about the review of services at Kettering General Hospital.
He said although he still has concerns over the future of maternity provision and the care of trauma patients at the hospital, he is confident there will be a longer and more thorough public consultation on any proposed changes.
He said: “After the meeting I felt there was more honesty about the review and its implications and a willingness to have more meaningful and longer consultations on any proposed changes.
“I have called for a meeting with obstetricians and other health care professionals, to hear what they have to say about the implications of any changes to services at Kettering General Hospital.
“I am looking forward to hearing what they have to say.
“While I accept that, for a number of reasons, we have to look at things differently, the very services that have been identified as being at risk at Kettering are the ones that people want on their doorstep.
“Accessibility and urgency are what matter to residents.”
