MP to raise NHS funding with Northants health bosses

All this week the Northants Telegraph has been investigating the Government’s plans to transform the NHS, which in this county include needing to find £320m worth of savings to balance the books by 2021 – a drop in funding of £328 per head.

In the same week it was revealed Kettering General Hospital is expected to have overspent by £25m this financial year.

Now Corby and East Northants MP Tom Pursglove said he will raise the matter with county health bosses.

He said: “In light of the Northants Telegraph’s investigation, I will be putting these concerns to the clinicians who ultimately make these decisions – namely, Corby Clinical Commissioning Group, Nene Clinical Commissioning Group and Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

“The staff at KGH and Corby Urgent Care Centre – which I visited again last week, and which was delivered under the Conservatives in Government back in 2012 – work incredibly hard to look after our communities and I will always press for the best services for residents across Corby and East Northamptonshire.

“The Government has given the NHS the funding it said was needed to continue to improve standards of care, with an additional £10bn by 2020.

“I will also speak to my north Northamptonshire colleagues, Peter Bone MP [for Wellingborough and Rushden] and Philip Hollobone MP [for Kettering], about these concerns, and work with the decision-makers at both the CCGs and KGH to protect and expand our services.”
