Drivers have been told to be prepared for a full closure of the eastbound A14 near Kettering tomorrow night (Tuesday, March 11).
The road will be shut between Junctions 7 and 9 from 8pm on Tuesday until 6am on Wednesday as work to add an extra lane for traffic in each direction continues.
Tuesday night’s closure is to allow for repair work to be carried out on damage to a temporary barrier on the route of the contraflow.
Meanwhile, the installation of a retaining wall outside the eastbound carriageway is set to begin on Wednesday, March 12, lasting for about six weeks.
It forms the foundation for the noise-protection fencing which will be installed to mitigate the effects of the widening scheme.
The building of the retaining wall is a noisy operation in itself, the Highways Agency has said, and work will be carried out during the day to limit the impact on residents nearby.
The widening work is due to be completed by spring next year.
