More visitors than ever expected at this year's British Grand Prix at Silverstone

More visitors than ever before are expected to arrive at Silverstone next month for the 52nd British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

A concert by Texas will take place at the race circuit on the Friday evening attracting thousands of race-goers to the area.

Police will be out in force throughout the Grand Prix weekend, outside as well as inside the circuit, to ensure local people have access to support and advice as well as those attending the event.

Chief Superintendent Mick Stamper is event commander for Northamptonshire Police.

He said: “My team of officers will do everything they can to make sure everyone coming to the British Grand Prix has an enjoyable and safe weekend and there is minimum disruption for local residents.

“Our policing operation gets underway on Thursday, July 7, when a large amount of spectators are expected to arrive at the circuit and neighbouring camp sites.

“If you have any concerns during the weekend please do not hesitate to call us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

“We have been working closely with Silverstone and other partners including the Highways Agency to ensure the smooth running of the event.

“The Highways Agency have published their traffic plan which details the road closures for the weekend as well as the diversion routes.

“It can be found on the section of our website dedicated to the Grand Prix and in the run-up to the event you’ll be able to see lots of details about the policing operation for this prestigious event.”
