More to benefit from faster broadband

THOUSANDS more homes and businesses are to have access to faster broadband as services are upgraded.

BT has announced that Brixworth and Middleton Cheyne are the latest communities to benefit from its next generation broadband service.

The improvement means that download speeds in the upgraded areas will increase to up to 20mps, more than double the previous speed.

BT’s East Midlands regional partnership director, Paul Bimson, said: “The rapid roll-out of faster broadband continues to reach out to more communities across the region.

“The technology is changing for the better the way we live and work, helping businesses work more efficiently and flexibly and find new markets.”

The faster broadband speeds are already available in 20 Northamptonshire towns and villages and by next spring it is estimated that 81 per cent of homes and businesses in the area will have been upgraded.

Mr Bimson said: “There is still much work to be done and we want to work with the public sector to find solutions for even the most challenging locations.”
