Water lapped into the front gardens of houses in Gainsborough Road, Corby, after a downpour on Monday (August 5) night.
The brook near Hazel Leys Primary School burst its banks at about 6.30pm, turning the field at the junction of Gainsborough Road and Blake Road into a lake.
The section of Gainsborough Road from its junction with School Place to Blake Road was closed by police, forcing drivers to take detours.
Residents in nearby properties watched as the water flooded their front gardens.
Both Anglian Water and the Environment Agency said they don’t have responsibility for the brook.
The same section of Gainsborough Road was flooded twice in a week in December when residents called for action to protect their homes.
