McIntyre manslaughter sentencing

A man has been ordered to reside in a high-security psychiatric unit indefinitely after admitting killing his grandmother.

Robert McIntyre, 23, was sentenced to a hospital order with a restriction order after admitting a charge of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility in relation to his 63-year-old grandmother.

Unemployed McIntyre, of Sutherland Road, Corby, had been charged with stabbing and killing Margaret McIntyre, who was known to her friends as Rita, on May 19 last year

David McIntyre shouted "hope you rot in hell" as he was taken away at Northampton Crown Court today.

Judge Charles Wide QC told McIntyre: "It was a terrible thing that you did and it's caused terrible loss and anguish to members of your family."
