Customers at McDonald’s in Corby, Kettering and Rothwell have been helping the fast-food chain pick sites to be spruced up as part of its Love Where You Live campaign.

And the company is hoping to enlist volunteers for the litterpicks, which will be taking place in Kettering and Rothwell on July 15 and Corby on July 28.

Rather than it selecting locations the company has been asking its customers in each of the towns to vote from a choice of sites nominated by local businesses, mayors and councils.

A spokesman for the company said: “There are seven events being carried out across Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Leicestershire.

“The choice of where the litterpick is being carried out in each of the seven events is being made by the customers of the local restaurants.

“McDonald’s will be promoting the location of the litterpick once voting has closed, and welcomes volunteers to help the staff, families and customers who will all be pitching in to help improve their locality and show they love where they live.

“There is also support being given by local councils at all of the events and equipment is being provided to help ensure the safety of those involved.”
