Mayor invites everyone to her charity ball

CORBY residents are being invited to get their glad rags on to support the mayor’s charity ball.

Cllr Gail McDade is encouraging people to join her for a night of glamour in their ball gowns and tuxedos in aid of her mayoral charities.

The mayor is holding a ball to raise funds for her three chosen causes – the Teenage Cancer Trust, the Bobath Centre for cerebral palsy and Beanfield Special Needs.

Cllr McDade said: “I am very excited to be able to host my civic ball as there hasn’t been one for the past couple of years so reviving the tradition is a great way to raise more money for my chosen charities.”

She added: “This is a brilliant chance for people to dust off their gladrags and glam themselves up for an evening not to be missed. 2012 is a big year for Corby with the Queen’s visit, the diamond jubilee and who knows, maybe even city status.

“So why not come along and kick off the celebrations in style?”

The event takes place at the Best Western Rockingham Forest Hotel in Rockingham Road, Corby, on Saturday, March 24, at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £25 and include live music from Soul About You, a disco, a selection of hot and cold food and a drink.
