Man who caused traffic jam by lying in road in Northampton town centre arrested after alleged assault of female police officer

A 39-year-old man who caused a traffic jam in Northampton town centre after he decided to lie in the middle of the road was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a police officer.

Police were called out to The Drapery in shortly before 8pm last night after reports a man was lying in the road near to the McDonald’s restaurant.

A police spokesman said a man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting female police officer and was still in police custody.
