Man suffers '˜significant' facial injuries after being hit with piece of wood in Corby attack

A man was hit in the face with a piece of wood by his attacker as he walked home from a night out in Corby.

The 32-year-old victim was approached by a man who had been riding a bicycle shortly after 3am yesterday (Sunday) in Willow Brook Road.

The man assaulted him with a piece of wood, causing significant facial injuries, before returning to his bike and riding off in the direction of Corby town centre.

The offender was a white man in his 30s, around 5ft 8ins, of medium build and was either bald or had thinning hair. He was wearing a light coloured jacket.

Officers investigating the incident would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it or who may have seen a man riding a bicycle in the area early on Sunday morning.
