A man was airlifted to hospital yesterday (Sunday) after suffering burns in a cooking incident.

The 25-year-old man burnt his back while cooking at an address in Towcester, and Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was called to the scene at about 1.30pm.

WNAA paramedics applied burns dressings to the casualty and administered pain relief, before flying him to the specialist burns unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

A spokesman for WNAA said: “Having an air ambulance at incidents such as this means that the patient can be quickly taken to the hospital that can best treat their injuries, rather than just the nearest hospital.”
