Man repeatedly tries to grab handbag from woman in Rushden

A man made several attempts to pull a bag from his victim during a robbery in Rushden.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery which took place at about 7.45pm on Saturday, February 25, in Orchard Place, near Rectory Road in the town.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was walking from High Street to the car park when a man ran up behind her and tried to grab her handbag.

“He made several attempts to pull the bag from her, but she managed to hold on to it and the offender ran off empty-handed.”

The offender is described as being in his 20s, about 5ft 6in, with a medium build.

He wore light blue jeans, dark-coloured plimsoll type shoes and a green hooded parker with dark brown fur around the hood, which he was wearing with the hood up.
