Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was called to Silverstone race track today (September 3) after a man injured his ankle.

The man, believed to be in his thirties, was attempting to jump over a car at the county circuit when he landed awkwardly and sustained a suspected fracture and dislocation to his ankle.

The air ambulance was requested by the race track medics who initially treated the casualty, as they were concerned about the blood flow to the patient’s injured foot.

Upon arrival, the crew found the casualty’s pulse to be weak so the on-board doctor administered strong pain relief to the casualty to sedate him and the crew put the ankle back into place.

They then splinted the injured ankle and flew the patient to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.
