A man was airlifted to hospital on Sunday (September 9) after accidentally reversing his ride-on lawnmower into the River Nene, near Kettering.

Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was called to the scene just before midday, where they found the man in a cold and confused state having been pulled from the water.

He had a small wound to the forehead and after examination, WNAA paramedics suspected he may have lost consciousness.

WNAA paramedics worked to warm the 67-year-old man up and administered oxygen to him before immobilising him, in case of any other injuries that were not yet apparent.

They then flew him to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment.
