Man flees from group of men after attack

A MAN was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the assault on a 22-year-old who was walking along Newnham Road, Northampton, near to Booze Blitz, when he was approached by three men in their early twenties.

One of the men punched the victim in the face, causing a cut to his lip. The victim ran from the scene and was chased by the group until he reached safety in a nearby shop.

The attacker is described as a white man in his early twenties, 5ft7 tall, with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark beanie style hat with a logo on the front, a grey/blue top and blue jeans, police said.

He was also holding a pint glass immediately before the assault and so may have been drinking in a local pub.
