Man dies in Barton Seagrave crash


A 76-year-old man has died and a passenger suffered serious injuries after the car they were travelling in left the road.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision in Barton Road, Barton Seagrave, at about 10.40am on Sunday (April 5).

The accident happened on the bridge over the A14 at Junction 10 when a red Peugeot 206, driven by a 76-year-old man from Thrapston, for reasons unknown, left the carriageway.

A police spokesman said: “Sadly the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries.”
