An 82-year-old motorist has died after his car left the A45 in Rushden.

The man from Thrapston was driving a silver Toyota Yaris along the eastbound carriageway of the A45 at about 9.45pm on Saturday, August 23 when, for reasons as yet unknown, he lost control of the vehicle.

The incident happened at the Skew Bridge roundabout.

After the vehicle left the road, it went into a ditch and was badly damaged.

A police spokesman said: “Sadly the man, who was alone in the car at the time, died at the scene.”
