A 28-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault in Rushden yesterday morning (Thursday, 19 March).
Riza Guzelyurt, 28, of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon and witness intimidation.
He was due to appear before Northampton Magistrates’ Court this morning.
He was arrested yesterday following an incident in Coltsfoot Road, where a 41-year-old woman from Rushden was stabbed.
The victim was taken by air ambulance to University Hospital Coventry where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
Officers investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
Detective Inspector Ali Farr said: “A man has been arrested and charged with this offence; however, as part of the ongoing investigation, we are appealing for information and would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have any knowledge about the recent whereabouts of Riza Guzelyurt. Please call police on 101 if you have any information.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident and local officers are carrying out extra patrols in the area to help reassure the local community.”
