A 42-year-old man arrested in connection with theft offences involving a digger and carried out in four counties including Northamptonshire has been bailed.
The incidents took place between October 1 and December 16 last year in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Humberside.
The man from Leicester has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
The Telegraph reported in October how a digger-type vehicle had been used to smash through the wall of the Budgens store in St Stephens Road, Kettering, in an attempt to steal the cash machine.
Extensive damage was caused to the building, although it is not known if this was one of the incidents relating to the recent arrest.
