A man has been arrested after police recovered a suspicious substance in Little Addington.
A property in Chapel Hill was sealed off at about 8am on Saturday (February 25), with surrounding properties evacuated and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attending.
Residents were allowed back to their homes at about 7pm once it was established that it was safe for them to do so.
Yesterday personnel from the EOD and other experts were supporting police officers to safely recover a number of potentially harmful substances from the property.
A man in his 40s was arrested and has since been released on police bail as the investigation continues.
A police spokesman said: “Officers would like to thank local people for their patience while this multi-agency response takes place to make the area safe.”
Tom Brown, who lives in nearby Dovecote Drive, says the incident has bemused villagers.
He said: “It’s all a bit strange and very peculiar.
“It is obviously quite serious if the bomb disposal team are here but none of us have a clue what’s gone on.
“We’ve not heard anything.”
