A 28-year-old man has been arrested after a knifepoint robbery at a corner shop in Kettering in which someone was injured.

The incident is being linked to another robbery which took place minutes earlier on Monday evening at a petrol station in the town.

Between 6.30pm and 7pm, a man entered the Esso Chrysler Garage on Bayes Street, threatened a member of staff with a knife and demanded cash.

The same man then went into the newsagents in Field Street and demanded money from the shopkeeper.

A struggle took place between the shopkeeper and offender, who fled the scene after sustaining an injury.

A man was found collapsed in Havelock Street, a short time later and has been taken to University Hospital Coventry where he continues to receive treatment.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed either of the robberies that took place on Monday evening, or anyone who may have seen a man with injuries in Havelock Street at about 7pm.

Witnesses or anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with both incidents.
