Man arrested after armed police called to Wellingborough address

Armed police were called after receiving a report of a man walking in the street with a weapon.

Video footage shows several police vehicles outside an address in Northampton Road in Wellingborough, near to the junction with Wood Street, earlier today (Tuesday)

A spokesman for Northants Police said: “We received a report at 11.30am of a man walking in the street with a weapon.

“We attended and a 45-year-old man was arrested and is in custody.

“He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.”

The spokesman confirmed that armed police were called to the incident but there was no suggestion of there being any threat to people in the area.
