Man and woman arrested on suspicion of murder over Northamptonshire house fire

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man at a house in Northamptonshire.

Police were called to the house in Rothersthorpe Road, Northampton, at around noon on Thursday, October 8, after reports of a fire at the property.

The body of a man was found inside the house and police have said today that a forensic post mortem examination conducted at Leicester Royal Infirmary yesterday has concluded that he died before the fire started.

A 38-year-old woman and 50-year-old man were arrested by police officers last night and remain in custody this morning. Both are believed to be known to the man who has died.

Formal identification of the man who has died has yet to take place.

Officers are continuing to conduct house-to-house enquiries in the Rothersthorpe Road area and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on Thursday morning to contact them.
