A motorcylist was badly injured after losing control of his bike and hitting a lamp post in Desborough.

The man, 26, was riding a distinctive orange Yamaha motorcycle in Rothwell Road, between Gold Street and Lower Street, at about 6.25pm on Sunday, when the accident took place.

As the rider approached the junction, he lost control of the bike, leaving the main carriageway before hitting a lamp post.

A police spokesman said: “The motorcyclist sustained serious leg injuries and was taken to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry by air ambulance.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information regarding it.

“They would particularly like to speak to the driver of a red car which turned onto the old A6 as the motorcycle was approaching the junction, as they may have witnessed the collision.”
