Love was in the air for newlyweds Jeff Bell and Christine Nixon when aerobatic display team The Blades took to the skies to put on a show after their wedding ceremony.
Jeff and Christine, who live in Raunds, tied the knot at The Courtyard in Stanwick on Friday.
The Blades, which are based at Sywell Aerodrome, where Jeff is aerodrome manager, offered to put on a show in the sky to celebrate the special day.
Staff at The Courtyard were told about the display but it was kept a secret from the guests, who were all members of Jeff and Christine’s families.
Jeff said: “I know the guys and when I said we were getting married they said they would do the display as a present. It was the full 16-minute display and it ended with a heart of smoke.
“The team displayed for the Beckhams a few years ago so we are up there with the highest celebrity bracket.
“There’s not many people who can say they had a display at their wedding.”
The couple, who are now on honeymoon in Egypt, were childhood sweethearts in the late 1970’s but lost touch when Jeff joined the RAF.
The pair found each other again on the website Friends Reunited 10 years ago and the rest was history.
Jeff said the stunning display from The Blades, which are the only full-time civilian aerobatic team in the country, had topped off a beautiful day.
He said: “The weather was absolutely perfect, we were outside until 5.30pm drinking on the lawn.”
