The search is on to find a VIP to open a new store when it has its official unveiling next week.
B&M is to take over the former Homebase unit at Victoria Park in Wellingborough.
The finishing touches are being made to the unit ahead of the new store’s official opening at 9am on Thursday, April 16.
But before customers get the chance to take a look around the shop, which is creating 63 jobs, the search is on to find a deserving member of the community to cut the ribbon and be a VIP for the morning. People can be nominated by friends, family or work colleagues.
The firm is looking for someone who makes life better for others, goes the extra mile to help people in need, works hard for a particular cause or is renowned for their charity work in the Wellingborough area.
Store manager for the new B&M home store and garden centre Shaun Nightingale said: “We wanted a true VIP to officially open our new store and what better way than to ask customers to nominate those who make a real difference to people’s lives in and around Wellingborough.
“We’re not judging by age or the type of support, we just want someone who goes that extra mile and who we can give something back to for a change.”
Nominations are now being sought and will be accepted up until Thursday, April 9.
Any nominations can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or posted to Wellingborough Local Hero Search, B&M Retail LTD. Dakota Drive, Estuary Commerce Park, Speke, Liverpool, L24 8RJ.
The winner will also receive £250 worth of vouchers to spend in store.
B&M was formed in 1978 and sells a variety of items, including toys and games, furniture, homeware, electrical goods, items for the garden, food and drink, as well as clothing and footwear.
