A POSH polo event is being planned by villagers for this summer.
The sport is normally the preserve of the aristocracy, the rich and the famous, but the Welland Valley Polo event will give local people the chance to find out more about the fast-paced game.
It will take place at Ashley Polo Ground in Middleton, near Corby, on Sunday, July 1. Entry is from midday and the polo starts at 2pm.
The beautifully-trained polo ponies and players come from all over the world.
There will be lively commentary to explain the rules of the game, a licensed bar, a hog roast, retail trade stands and a children’s fun play area.
Tickets are £5 each on the gate and children under 12 get in free.
For those who really want to make a day of it, there’s an invitation to a two-course lunch in a funky marquee. Tickets are £30 each and soft drinks are included in the price. Children’s tickets are £5 each and include a picnic. Children under four go free. For marquee tickets, call Alison or Charles Freestone on 01536 771274.
