Lib Dems win Kettering Council by-election

The Liberal Democrats have gained a seat on Kettering Council after a by-election in Barton Seagrave.

Andrew Dutton took the seat with 644 votes - more than 300 more than his Conservative rival, Dianne Miles-Zanger, who got 337 votes.

UKIP’s Robert Clements had 106 votes with Rob Reeves (Green Party) picking up 42 votes.

Labour did not field a candidate and turnout was 25.6 per cent.

The seat became vacant after the resignation of Steve Bellamy, an Independent councillor.

The results leaves the current make-up of Kettering Council as: 26 Conservatives, seven Labour, two Independents and one Liberal Democrat.
