A CAMPAIGN to save the honey bee is in full swing thanks to an award from the Big Lottery Fund.
Rockingham Forest Trust has been given £8,000 for a beekeeping project at Stanwick Lakes.
The money will be used for equipment and to fund taster sessions for people who want to learn about beekeeping or becoming a beekeeper themselves.
Ranger and beekeeper Geoff Watton said: “I’m really keen to build up a group of dedicated volunteers who want to learn about beekeeping at Stanwick Lakes.
“Thanks to an Awards for All grant we will have plenty of bee suits and equipment for people to use while they are learning.”
To celebrate, there will be a Busy Buzzy Bees family fun day at Stanwick Lakes on June 7.
Anybody who would like to get involved with the project can visit the Ranger’s Cabin at Stanwick Lakes for a volunteer taster session at 6pm on Tuesday, April 24.
