Law's Poppies are now 'jostling' in the play-off places

The Poppies made it three wins in the space of seven days as they secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Frome Town at Latimer Park.

Rhys Hoenes gave them an early lead before Brett Solkhon added a second from the penalty spot before half-time.

And Aaron O’Connor’s 29th goal of the season in all competitions five minutes after the restart killed the game off and allowed Kettering to see it out without any major scares.

The latest win, the Poppies’ 15th at home in the league this season, means they are now 16 points clear of the chasing pack just outside the play-off places.

And boss Law believes it will now be a “big ask” for anyone to stop his team from ensuring they have, at the very least, an extended campaign.

“It’s 16 points between us and (sixth-placed) Tiverton,” the Kettering manager said.

“With nine games to go, it’s a big ask for them and you are asking us to turn into a totally different team.

“So I think now it’s about the jostling and getting yourself into a good position.

“I am just really pleased with another three points and another clean sheet at home.

“I thought we looked very threatening in the first half, there was lots of endeavour and they struggled to deal with us.

“And as the game went on, I thought we looked a side that was thinking a bit more about the games coming up.

“They are in a position where they are able to play with a bit of freedom and that can make it dangerous.

“But we created plenty of opportunities, it was a clinical finish from Rhys and Brett again from the spot but the goal early on was exactly what we needed.”

The Poppies are to due to play their third home game in a row on Tuesday night when Dorchester Town are the visitors to Latimer Park.
