Law's Poppies are fully focused on Tamworth clash
Marcus Law insists Kettering Town's '100 per cent focus' is on tonight's (Tuesday) Evo-Stik League South Premier Division Central clash at Tamworth.
The Poppies make the short trip to The Lamb bidding to maintain their strong position at the top of the early table after they claimed a 3-0 success at St Neots Town at the weekend.
And Law, who had a near two-year stint as manager of the Lambs between 2011 and 2013, wants his players to concentrate on this evening’s game, despite the Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round clash at Aldershot Town looming on the horizon.
“We have to keep doing what we are doing,” the Kettering manager said.
“I have made it clear that the FA Cup is not a distraction for us, we are geared towards what we want to achieve in the league.
“We just have to keep going and our 100 per cent focus is on the next game.
“We will go out there and try to pick up another positive result to keep us in the good position we have worked our way into.”
Tamworth, like the Poppies, were highly-fancied to challenge for promotion this season.
But they have had a stuttering start and sit in the lower half of the table ahead of tonight’s clash.
Not that Law is taking anything for granted against a Lambs side now managed by former Boston United boss Dennis Greene.
“I actually think their ground has lost its edge by going to a 4G,” Law added.
“Tamworth was always a very difficult place to play if you didn’t know the pitch but the 4G surface means you know what you are dealing with.
“That doesn’t mean it will be easy. It’s a club I know well and you will never get an easy game there.”
The Poppies, meanwhile, have been named the Premier Division Central Team of the Month for September. It is the second time they have won the accolade after they also picked up the prize in August.
