Northamptonshire Association for the Blind (NAB) has welcomed new volunteer Lauren Willingham to the team.
The independent charity has been running for 15 years, supporting hundreds of victims and their families who have encountered sight loss.
NAB relies on voluntary donations and supporters which enable them to provide free advice, home visits and support.
Lauren is a former student of Northampton University, studying events management.
She said: “Its great to be able to help make a difference to blind people’s lives.”
“NAB gives me a great opportunity to apply my skills and get some very useful practical experience for my future career.”
As part of her work, Lauren is organising a fun day on June 23 at Wardington Court, Northampton.
She said: “There will be lots of games, stalls, a barbecue and music.”
The event is free to all children and 50p for adults.
Northampton mayor Cllr Roger Conroy will be opening the day.
Olga Ivannikova, fundraising volunteer co-ordinator, said: “We are so pleased to have Lauren with us and we hope that she enjoys her experience at NAB.
“We want to encourage more people to volunteer with us, make a difference and learn new skills.”
