Corby residents still have time to nominate their sporting heroes for the town’s annual sports awards.
There’s no shortage of talent in the town which has nurtured the likes of gymnast Daniel Keatings, boxer Simon Barclay, hurdler Will Sharman and athlete Niall Graham, who is now competing for Britain in the London 2012 Paralympics as a member of the goalball squad.
A spokesman for Corby Council, which organises the awards, said: “This is the perfect opportunity to recognise and thank other individuals, sports clubs and schools who help raise the standard of sport in Corby.”
Categories in the awards include community club of the year, team of the year, coach of the year, volunteer of the year, sport school of the year, get active 2012, young leader of the year, disabled sports achiever, local sports achiever, local sportsperson and long time contribution to sport.
Nominations will be accepted until Friday, September 14.
To make a nomination visit the council’s website at www.corby.gov.uk, or contact Adam Smith at email@example.com.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 24, from 6.30pm, at The Best Western Rockingham Forest Hotel, Rockingham Road, Corby.
