Wollaston people have been admiring a six-foot Christmas tree – which was knitted by residents of the village.

The tree, which sits in Matthew Nicholas Estate Agents, Newton Road, is made up of around 600 knitted leaves and decorations.

A donation bucket for Help for Heroes has been set up next to the tree, and anyone who donates has been invited to take away a decoration with them.

Nicholas Sinnott, from the estate agents, said: “The people who knitted it thought what can we do with it and we agreed to have it here.

“It seems to have gone down rather stormingly.”
