Kilimanjiro climb raises more than £2,000 for Kettering Samaritans

Chantal Pettican climbed the dormant Tanzanian volcano in a gruelling six-day trek.

The feat not only saw her reach the summit of the world’s highest freestanding mountain, but she also raised £2,150 for Kettering Samaritans.

Chantal said: “I trekked along the Rongai route, taking in some of Tanzania’s most spectacular sights, before battling against a gruelling 10-hour ascent and altitude sickness to reach the summit of the world’s highest freestanding mountain at 5,895m above sea level.

“It was a once in a lifetime experience and I’m proud to have made it to the summit while raising £2,150 for Kettering Samaritans.”

When she got to the summit, Chantal had her photo taken wearing a Samaritans tabard.

The money raised will go towards running costs for the branch.
