A Kettering youngster had an unforgettable day when he led his rugby heroes out on to the pitch before a big night of European action.

Thomas Revell was one of two matchday mascots for the Leicester Tigers’ Rugby Champions Cup clash with Toulon on Sunday.

Tigers claimed a famous win, beating the reigning European champions 25-21, and Thomas followed them every step of the way.

Joining Tigers mascot Welford on the touchline in the build-up to kick-off, Thomas ran on to the pitch with team captain Ben Youngs in front of a 22,000-strong crowd.

Thomas’s mum Debbie said: “This is a massive experience. Thomas has been so excited since he found out and was up at 5.30 this morning to come here – what an amazing early Christmas present.

“He’s been looking at all the players this week and following the games from the other teams, so I’m sure this will really develop his interest in rugby.”
