This was the start of Pamela’s 20 years of fundraising, benefiting various causes, as well as caring for her husband who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and passed away in 2001.

She has also raised money for Cransley Hospice after organising scratch choir sing-offs.

Now she could be honoured with an award on March 23 at a ceremony hosted by actress Denise Van Outen.

Pamela is up against fellow volunteers Hilary Walker and David Fordy.

Kirsty Wainwright-Noble from Towergate said: “Towergate has long-standing relationships with many care organisations across the country, so we know the vital role carers play and have witnessed the high level of commitment and dedication from people working in this industry.

“We were astounded by the number of entries we received and it wasn’t easy to narrow down the nominations as they were all incredibly deserving in their own right.

“However, we believe the shortlisted individuals have demonstrated the highest level of excellence in care and deserve their moment in the spotlight.”

Denise Van Outen said: “We’ve seen some phenomenal entries from the caring community and I’ve been moved by many of the stories I’ve read.

“The event will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate those who deserve recognition for their outstanding contribution to the care industry.”
