Electronic music lovers will get the chance to experience a new festival in Kettering next year after it was granted a festival licence.
The Sound in the Woods festival, which will be held at a secret woodland location, will take place on September 3, 2016, and will host a variety of drum and bass, reggae and house DJs.
Cllr Michael Brown, who is organising the event in partnership with a professional production team and The Yards, says there are plans in place for an even bigger event if this proves to be a success.
He said: “This is going to be a real family event and I’m delighted at what we’ve achieved off our own backs.
“It will be affordable and there will be three stages as well as other attractions, so something for everyone.
“Kettering needs this and if it goes as well as I hope, we’ll look into organising a big weekender next year.”
Cllr Brown is already moving to secure some international acts and while some are booked, he doesn’t want to reveal too much just yet.
He added: “We’ll be releasing information in dribs and drabs throughout the year but the organisation is very much under way.
“We’ve already booked the sound systems, the light shows and site – which is within walking distance of Kettering – and it’s going to be spectacular.
“We’ve been given an extended licence until 3am and there will be securtiy and plenty of bars.
“When people visit the festival they will forget they’re even in Kettering, it’s going to feel like a different world.”
