Kettering set to undergo '˜Clean for the Queen'

Kettering Council will undertake the programme in Havelock Street, Wood Street, King Street and Regent Street between March 31 and April 16.

The intensive programme includes door knocking, giving information about recycling, bins on the street and a waste amnesty between March 31 and April 9.

There will also be monitoring and removal of flytipping from March 31 to April 14 and the removal of unused and abandoned bins on March 31.

On April 8 there will be a removal of tagging with a waste amnesty the following day.

Between March 31 and April 14 there will be a dog fouling clean-up and enforcement operation, with a litter pick and removal of graffiti from April 12 to 14.

There will be a clearance of alleyways, hot wash of streets and alleyways and weed spraying and painting from April 14 to 16.

A special feature is a Waste Amnesty Day, with a free collection of large household items presented at the kerbside by 9am.

The intention is to encourage residents to have more pride and ownership for the area they live in.

The amnesty will be supported by Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Brendan Coleman, head of environmental care at Kettering Council, said: “The majority of these operations are carried out by Kettering Council throughout the year, but the aim of this project is to deliver a deep clean in a short timeperiod which will give the local residents a sense of pride for the area that they live in.”
