An author from Kettering is among those to have been shortlisted for a national prize for romantic fiction.

Sue Moorcroft’s book The Wedding Proposal is one of nine contenders in the Best Romantic Read category at the Romance Readers Awards.

Among the other works shortlisted in Sue’s category are The Memory Book by Rowan Coleman – a Richard and Judy Book Club choice.

The awards, part of the Festival of Romantic Fiction, began in 2011. That year, Sue won Best Romantic Read with her book Love & Freedom, while later books Dream a Little Dream and Is This Love? were shortlisted in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Sarah Taylor, awards organiser, said: “With the highest number of entries the awards have had in their four year history, the standard this year was exceptionally high with many highly rated novels not making the shortlists.

“The breadth and depth of quality writing in romantic fiction should be celebrated and that’s what these awards are all about.”

The winner will be announced at a festival in Leighton Buzzard on Saturday, September 13.
