Corby’s theatre is celebrating its fifth birthday next month with a day of family fun.
On Saturday, November 7, The Core at Corby Cube will mark the special occasion by celebrating the venue’s story so far.
Everyone is invited to come and explore, and take part in all sorts of activities and discover more about The Core’s shows and Get Involved program.
For anyone who has not been to visit The Core yet, this is a fantastic opportunity to have a look round and find out what they have been missing.
Throughout the day, young people and their families are invited to take part in a great range of activities going on around the building.
For little ones there will be lots of fun things to try, including crafts themed around the children’s show taking place on the day, What The Ladybird Heard, relaxing in the Mini Cinema with micro bags of popcorn and helping build the monster marble run, the Corby Cascade.
Older children can have fun and achieve an Arts Award in Digital Discover In A Day, presented by the Core Producers and 02 Think Big, with hands-on experience in digital arts.
The workshops on offer include the chance to make your own computer games in a Coding Workshop and get creative with image editing software in Phabulous Photoshop.
Additional workshops taking place on the day include the grisly prosthetics masterclass Zombify Yourself and The World Table Drumming Championships where participants can learn how to use their body as an instrument.
Adults can join in too and get a taste of novel writing (at least the first page) in a workshop to kick off National Novel Writing Month, watch the world premiere of a suspense thriller created by young people as part of the TACT project or even just take a tour of the theatre with a colourful cast of staff and volunteers.
Expect balloons, cake, a doodle wall and lots of fun for all.
Customers can keep the party atmosphere going and stay for the evening performance by critically acclaimed comedian Nish Kumar at 8pm.
The We Are 5 birthday celebrations take place from 11am to 4pm.
All activities are free of charge and there is no need to book.
Please note charges apply for the performances of What The Ladybird Heard taking place on the day and for Nish Kumar’s performance in the evening.
