Frustrated motorists have seen queues build up at the junction of Cottingham Road and High Street.

With visibility limited Bob Riley, consort to Corby’s mayor Cllr Julie Riley, has launched the petition saying it is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt pulling out.

He said: “We would really like them [Northants County Council] to put a roundabout there.

“A lot of people use the road to get to Asda, McDonald’s and the shopping centre and it gets really congested.

“There’s always queues and in peak times there are huge delays.

“It’s quite dangerous to get out of the junction and the vision is limited.

“I think it’s a matter of time before there’s an accident.”

A county council spokesman said it is looking into how feasible a mini-roundabout would be.

The spokesman said: “We are already investigating the possibility of new highways measures at this location.

“At this stage we are looking at how feasible a mini-roundabout would be with part of the work examining the approach visibility and whether this solution is suitable.”
