An Irchester man who sexually assaulted a woman has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Ionut-Marian Sfait, 29, was found guilty of sexual assault committed last year.
At sentencing on Wednesday (February 22), Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court heard how Sfait, of Berrill Street, had denied the charges against him
In a victim impact statement read out in court, the victim said: “I told him no and I felt so scared, I did not know what to do.
“I was frightened and scared to tell anyone.
“As time has gone by I find myself reliving what has happened and it plays on my mind.
“Since this incident has happened I have really suffered with my anxiety levels.”
Sfait denied all sexual contact.
Chairman of the bench Richard Weekley said: “We have heard from the victim just how much this has affected her and we therefore have to take this case very seriously.”
Mr Weekley gave Sfait six weeks but suspended for 18 months.
He will be on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years and was given an 18-month restraining order against the victim.
He was also made to pay compensation of £750, court costs of £770 and a victim surcharge of £115.
