Shoppers are being encouraged to get out and support the independent stores on their doorstep.

Independents Day is coming to Rushden High Street on Friday, July 4, with traders showcasing what they have to offer including taster courses, a mini market and promotions.

The event organised by Rushden Town Partnership, will kick-start the Get To Know Rushden programme, which runs from July 4 until 13 and is organised by Rushden Town Council with groups, clubs and businesses putting on a range of different activities.

The aim of both events is to promote the town and encourage people to find out more about what’s available on their doorstep.

Julia Roberts from Rushden Town Partnership said: “Following the huge success of last year’s Independents Day, Rushden businesses we will be taking part in this national event to celebrate and promote all that is good and great about Rushden.

“It is to promote local businesses and to promote Rushden as a destination for shopping and other activities.”

The main event on July 4 will be in the High Street, but firms from anywhere in the town can get involved.
