ILLEGAL immigrants were found stowed-away in a lorry heading for Raunds.
Thirteen would-be illegal immigrants were prevented from entering the country on Wednesday after Border Force officers found them hiding inside a lorry at Calais port waiting to cross to the UK.
The group of men were found when officers used a sniffer dog to search a Polish-registered lorry heading for Warth Park Way in Raunds.
Six were from Iran, three from Syria, two from Afghanistan, one from Iraq and one was from Turkey.
Border Force director Carole Upshall said: “This incident shows why we base Border Force staff in France – to stop would-be illegal immigrants before they can reach the UK.”
The stowaways were handed over to French border police and the vehicle was allowed to continue on to its destination.
